Good article. I actually work for a company who produces leather cleaning products for car interiors and they actually work really well. Obviously some people prefer to use covers which is great because I know how easily it is to damage leather. Still, it's good to know that damaged leather can be treated.

I enjoyed your post. It's good to know that the vinyl based seat covers will last a long time and are cheaper than the leather ones. It's much better for my budget. Thanks for the info.

Mine is just upholstered with leatherette and its been 2 years now. Regular cleaning is a good way to keep it looking good just make sure to have a good quality foam under it.

Personally I'd always opt for a vinyl "leather-look" car seat cover. Partly for ethical reasons but also because, as your article correctly says, genuine leather can get easily damaged and while car seat covers can easily be replaced, the money spent on genuine leather upholstery is lost forever.
